Costumers of Color (CoCo) chapters are local groups working to accomplish our mission. Chapters help build our community of belonging through inclusive historical costuming, sewing circles, and public history meetups (e.g. museum visits, group outings, workshops, and other activities).
Each chapter is led by an approved Chapter Leader and organizes local activities that support arts & humanities education as well as community connection. Chapters are a way for CoCo participants to meet in person, share knowledge, attend events together, and celebrate the joy of historical costuming and public history in welcoming local spaces. Chapters must organize two activities (e.g. outings, sewing circles, meetups) per year to remain active. Our chapters serve participants in their local area and create opportunities for local costumers to gather, learn, sew, attend events, and build community together.

Interested in Starting a Chapter?
We are excited to grow Costumers of Color chapters in more communities. New chapters require at least three charter members and approval from Costumers of Color leadership.
As a chapter leader, you would be helping advance Costumers of Color mission: to expand access, representation, and belonging for people of color in historical costuming and public history through scholarships, educational events, and cultural heritage travel that welcome participants of all racial and cultural backgrounds.
If you are interested in starting a chapter in your area, please contact Costumers of Color via email at costumersofcolor@gmail.com for more information.
