Who am I? I’m Gigi, a retired sociologist, historian, costumer, and traveler, who promotes #inclusivecostuming by leading trips abroad and hosting events in the US.
Our trips abroad feature custom, elegant, boutique experiences costuming in the UK, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, and Lombardy. Not a “tour group” traveller? Neither am I. Let me show you the places I discovered over the past 10 years of solo Italian travel to historical sites both on and off the beaten path. I’ve done the work. All you have to do is book your plane ticket, pack, and arrive!
I’ve fallen slowly and completely in love with Italy, especially the Veneto and Emilia-Romagna. Let me help you experience “il dolce far niente” (the sweetness of doing nothing) in Italy.

HOW IT WORKS
I work closely with private groups (minimum 3 guests). Contact me via this guest registration form to let me know when you want to travel and which trip idea interests you the most. I will respond and set up a time to zoom and discuss finding a trip in the planning process to join, or begin crafting your own small group journey. Together, we will explore rich and diverse cultures through curated travel experiences and costuming events.
Why Travel With Gigi?
Gigi Coulson is a sociologist and public historian and has been an independent researcher of Italian history for the past decade. Gigi has taught college students in the U.S. about historical fashion, women’s lives, and historical beauty practices. She has covered Caterina Sforza and her medical/apothecary book The Experiments for her blog and published her translation of Caterina’s recipes that is available in print and on Kindle via Amazon. Gigi is now conducting small, private tours of the cities she has grown to love to bring the stories of history to life.
