A picture of Lady Toxie. They ha ve red hair and are wearing a red headpiece. Their costume is two different shades of red with a bright red cape flowing behind them. They are looking directly into the camera with the sun beaming down from above.

Lady “LT” Toxie is a costume and prop maker, heritage researcher, and all around geek who lives in Southern California. She does her best to find sustainable and reusable ways of creating, while looking for inspiration from both antiquated and futuristic ideas, and also uncovering and de-colonizing her indigenous Coptic Egyptian heritage through costuming and other folk modalities. She adores video games, classic literature, a good spot of boba tea, hiking, space exploration, folk crafts, and her family of husband and cat.

Lady Toxie’s talk is titled “What in the Disney’s Princess Jasmine is This??”:

Deconstructing Disney’s Jasmine to fit Middle Ages-era Egypt. A personal costume turned heritage-reclamation project to reconnect, re-indigenize, and de-colonize in the midst of false information, myths, and prevalent Orientalism.
