An image of Elisabeth Beattie. A human wearing a medieval white linen veil and vimple, green and blue medieval tartan dress, long belt, and holding a large sword with both hands. They are seemingly facing off with someone just out of frame.

I am a historical re-enactor and experimental archaeologist, based in Canada. I make medieval European clothes and stress-test them in the wilderness, while cooking historical recipes.

Elisabeth’s talk is titled “All the Riches of the World: Afro-Eurasian Trade Routes in the Premodern World”:

A brief overview of the “Silk Routes” and “Spice Routes” – where they went, who travelled them, and what was traded along them.
